The Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) was founded in London, England in 1866. It is the world's oldest and most internationally influential aviation and aerospace professional society. The mission of the society is to promote the popularization and development of aerospace knowledge and technology worldwide.

How to apply
Step 1: Fill out the preliminary review application form first (scan the QR code)
Step 2: After the background review is passed, the applicant needs to provide the following information to china@aerosociety.com and membership@aerosociety.com
1) A complete resume
2) Educational qualification certificate information
3) Departmental position organization structure of employed applicants
4) Applicants other than students need 2 recommenders (at least 1 year of working relationship)
5) A recent bareheaded 2-inch photo of the individual (electronic version)
Step 3: Receive email confirmation and written membership information package after final review
Membership Levels
To get free student membership, you should be in full-time study and intend to pursue a career in aerospace. Full-time study includes students at any stage, from undergraduate and postgraduate students to primary school students interested in aviation, aerospace and other STEM topics. After your full-time study ends, the system will automatically invite you to upgrade to the Society's preliminary junior membership.
Student Affiliate
The membership levels of the society are ranked from low to high: student member, candidate member, preliminary junior member, junior member, intermediate member, senior member, associate member and fellow. Please refer to the following content for the specific application requirements for each level.

Anyone interested in the field of aviation or aerospace can become our candidate for membership.
E-Associate (ARAeS)
This membership level is designed for student members who have recently completed their studies. This level allows the use of the ARAeS abbreviation and a discounted annual membership fee. After one year of being a Preliminary Member, members will automatically be upgraded to Junior Member status. Applicants who apply directly for Preliminary Junior Membership must meet the following three conditions: just completed a full-time undergraduate course, a full-time master's degree course, or a full-time undergraduate and master's degree course. (Note: Full-time students who are still studying do not meet the requirements for applying for the Preliminary Membership level.)
Associate (ARAeS)
This level of membership is for graduates or professionals with some experience in the industry. Applicants must have a higher education diploma or non-honours degree and at least three years of experience in the aviation industry.
Associate Member (AMRAeS)
Intermediate members usually have an honours degree plus two years of full-time experience in the aviation industry or twelve years of experience in the aviation industry without an honours degree. Engineer members who have achieved the Intermediate member level can also apply for registered engineers (IEng) and registered engineering technicians (EngTech).
Member (MRAeS)
Senior members usually have an honours degree plus at least four years of full-time experience in the aviation industry, or 15 years of experience in the aviation industry without an honours degree (of which seven years were in a management position). Engineer members who have achieved Senior Member status can also apply for Chartered Engineer (CEng) and Incorporated Engineer (IEng).
Companion (CRAeS)
Associate Fellowship is awarded to those who have rendered valuable service to the aviation profession and are in related professions with similar qualifications and industry experience to Fellows, but who do not have the qualifications for this position at all. A typical example of an Associate Fellow is a senior executive moving into the aerospace industry from another industry mid- to late-stage in their career.
Fellow (FRAeS)
Fellow is the highest level of membership available to members of the Society and is only awarded to professionals in the aerospace field. Fellow applicants must meet the requirements for Senior Membership and can also demonstrate that they meet one or more of the following criteria: have made an outstanding contribution to the aviation industry; or have held a position of responsibility in the aviation industry; or have long-term, high-quality industry experience in the aviation industry. Engineer members who have achieved Fellow status can also apply for Chartered Engineers (CEng) and Incorporated Engineers (IEng).
Applications for Fellowship should provide details of your significant responsibilities, any professional publications, awards received or outstanding contributions to aerospace or the Society. If you are a senior manager, please state the scope of your responsibilities, including detailed authority of responsibility such as personnel, budget, technical areas or any signing authority. Applications for Fellowship must also be recommended by two Fellows of the Society. If no Fellow of the Society is available, an equivalent Fellow of another internationally recognized professional body may be used (with a letter of explanation).
Membership Fee
The membership year is from January 1 to December 31. First-time applicants can enjoy a membership fee discount in the first year of membership (depending on the specific month of application). The following are the membership fee rates for 2023:
