Outstanding female representatives of the Royal Aeronautical Society were invited to attend the reception of female representatives in the STEM industry hosted by the UK Science and Technology Agency

This week, UKRI, the British Council and the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) jointly hosted a theme event to celebrate the achievements of women in STEM. The British Ambassador to China, Dame Caroline Wilson, delivered a keynote speech. In her speech, Dame Caroline encouraged wider participation of women in STEM and highlighted the challenges they face, including balancing minority representation and family responsibilities, while praising the achievements of many women who have overcome these challenges. The event brought together a wonderful lineup of guests including Chevening Scholarship alumni, British Council and UKRI members. In a relaxed and social atmosphere, the outstanding female practitioners in STEM who attended the meeting fully communicated, shared inspiring career stories with each other, and celebrated the outstanding achievements of women in the STEM community!

In her address, Dame Caroline encouraged greater participation of women in STEM fields and highlighted the challenges they face, including minority representation and balancing family responsibilities, whilst praising the achievements of many women who have overcome these challenges. The event brought together an exciting mix of guests, including Chevening Scholarship alumni and members of the British Council and UKRI. With a relaxed and social atmosphere, it was a fantastic opportunity to connect, share inspiring career stories, and celebrate the remarkable achievements of women in the STEM community—all while enjoying delicious food and drinks!

Beliz Rogers and Sun Mingrui attended the event as the Outstanding Women Representatives of the Royal Aeronautical Society in China. "As someone with aspirations in the aviation industry, I found this event particularly inspiring. The discussion about women in STEM fields resonates deeply with my goals to promote a more inclusive and diverse aviation industry. I look forward to connecting with like-minded professionals through my involvement in the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS). The Society attaches great importance to promoting gender equality in the aviation field and has many practical initiatives," said Beliz.

The discussions surrounding women in STEM resonate deeply with my own goals of contributing to a more inclusive and diverse aviation industry. I look forward to connecting with like-minded professionals through my involvement with the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS), where the promotion of gender equality in aviation is a key area of focus.” Said Beliz.
