The Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) China Representative Office and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) signed a Memorandum of Understanding

On January 6, 2025, the China Representative Office of the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in Beijing , aiming to promote more international exchanges and communication between engineering and technical personnel and members of both sides, and seek to jointly carry out seminars, conferences and exhibitions to help promote international cooperation in engineering technology.

Warren East, President of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Bob Cryan, Honorary President, Toni Allen, Global Chief Growth Officer, and Paulo Lopes, Head of IET China, attended the dinner on behalf of IET. Special guests of the dinner included senior representatives from companies such as Embraer, Rolls-Royce, Collins Aerospace, Thales, Interstellar Glory, SES, Beijing Engine Maintenance Co., Ltd., and CRRC Corporation Limited, as well as experts and scholars from universities such as Tsinghua University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beijing Institute of Technology, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing Jiaotong University, and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.

Mr. Warren East, Chairman of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and former CEO of Rolls-Royce plc, believes that establishing cooperation with other professional organizations is an important way for IET to develop its business. Through cooperation, it is hoped that the two sides can deepen the cooperation in industrial activities in the fields of electric aircraft and sustainable development of low-altitude economy in China, and provide better services to members in the fields of professional qualification certification training.

On January 8, Qi Xuefeng, Deputy General Manager of COMAC, Li Dongsheng, Chief Engineer of Composite Materials and Standing Committee Member of Science and Technology Committee of COMAC, Deng Liang, Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Co., Ltd., and Ma Yongwei, Director of Procurement and Logistics Center of Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Co., Ltd. , received representatives of RAeS and IET on behalf of COMAC to visit the final assembly lines of COMAC C909 and C919 .
