Our objective each year is to bring together leaders and experts in industry, academia and government who collectively stand at the forefront of developments in the field, collectively working to turn today's exciting vision of safe, sustainable urban air mobility into tomorrow's reality. This year we return bigger and better, building on last year's success with a more comprehensive programme, covering many more topics in more depth over the full two days. Professor Laura Bishop

Vice Provost for Research and Knowledge Exchange of UNNC

Professor Laura Bishop is the Vice Provost for Research and Knowledge Exchange at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China.

She holds a PhD in Anthropology from Yale University. Prior to joining UNNC, she was a Professor of Palaeoanthropology and Pro-Vice Chancellor for the Faculty of Science at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). In this role since 2022, she had strategic and operational leadership of the Faculty of Science at LJMU. Prof Bishop was the Principal of the Sino-British College (SBC) of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology from 2018 to 2021. Her leadership and influencing skills helped steer SBC successfully through a complex and challenging period of change.

Prof Bishop is an active advocate for internationalization in higher education. Having worked with the UK-China Joint Institute Alliance and served on the Executive Committee of the British Chamber of Commerce (Shanghai), she has excellent knowledge of the landscape of higher education in China, and of the trends which will both challenge and catalyse UNNC’s research and knowledge exchange.

Prof Bishop is the author of more than 60 scholarly publications. Her research explores the environmental contexts of the evolution of human behaviour in Africa, with a focus on the interpretation of the dynamic aspects of hominin evolution, particularly behaviour and ecology.

From 2016-2021, Derek held various positions in Airbus’ HQ in Toulouse, and was at last appointment the Head of Asia-Pacific for Government & Public Affairs, and Strategic Partnerships for Airbus Group; responsible for international business development strategies, industrial and sustainable aviation partnerships, based in Singapore.

He stayed in General aviation and developed and certified the DA62 (certified, 7 seated, twin engine aircraft) as chief engineer and program director. The DA62 won several awards and is the leading, most innovative and best selling twin engine aircraft in the general aviation market.

From 2017 to 2021 Mr. Bausek was acting as Head of Production Organization and EASA Accountable Manager responsible for all production within Wanfeng-Diamond Austria. Since 2021 he is located in China and successfully established till 2023 a new factory in Qingdao from greenfield acting as CEO.

Mr. Bausek continued at all times his responsibility for the innovation within Wanfeng-Diamond Aircraft and is since 2020 working with multiple automotive partners on vertical e-mobility. To facilitate the general aviation and vertical e-mobility in Chinas lower airspace economy he is acting as global technical director and led the vertical e-mobility solution development form Wanfeng-Diamond Aircraft.

Mr. Bausek holds a master degree in aviation and a master degree in innovation management. He is leading since more than 10 years many university-industry cooperation projects and is teaching since more than 15 years on universities and has supervised more than 60 master and bachelor thesis.

Sheng Liang,  born in 1983, graduated from Tongji University with a major in Electronic Information Engineering in 2004, and started working in July of that year. He has served as the commander of the Shanghai Airport Group Operations Command Center (AOC), aviation business manager, marketing department supervisor, and middle-level manager. He has been deeply involved in major projects such as the preparation for the opening of Hongqiao Airport and has rich experience in civil aviation operations and management. Obtained a Master's degree in Software Engineering from Fudan University in 2008. Resigned and started a business in 2017. Currently, he serves as the Dean of both the College of Aerospace Engineering and the Helicopter Research Institute at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), as well as the Director of the National Defense Key Discipline Laboratory of Advanced Aircraft Design Technology and the Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center for Light General Aviation Aircraft Technology. His research has earned him numerous awards, including one Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, two First Prizes of National Defense Science and Technology Progress Award, and one First Prize for Technical Invention awarded by the Ministry of Education.
